Understanding the Exchange Rate Chart

▲ Green

Rising rate (green chart): The “From” currency has gained value against the “To” currency over the selected period. For example, if you are viewing USD/EUR and the chart is green, the US Dollar has strengthened — meaning 1 USD buys more Euros today than it did at the start of the period.

▼ Red

Falling rate (red chart): The “From” currency has weakened against the “To” currency. For example, a red USD/TRY chart means the US Dollar now buys fewer Turkish Lira than it did at the start of the period — TRY has strengthened relative to USD.

1D · 7D · 30D

Period buttons: Switch between 1 Day (hourly data points), 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days, and 1 Year views. Shorter periods show recent volatility; longer periods reveal the broader trend. The percentage change badge updates to match the selected period.

% Badge

Percentage change: The ▲ or ▼ badge below the result shows exactly how much the rate has moved over the selected chart period. A badge showing “▲ +2.14% (30D)” means the From currency is 2.14% stronger against the To currency compared to 30 days ago.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mid-market exchange rate?
The mid-market rate (also called the interbank rate or spot rate) is the midpoint between the global buy and sell prices for a currency pair. It is the fairest, most transparent rate available and is used as the benchmark by central banks and financial institutions. Retail providers such as banks and exchange bureaux add a margin on top of this rate — which is why the rate you see here will always look better than the rate offered at a bank or airport.
How often are rates updated?
Rates are sourced from open.er-api.com and updated once every 24 hours. Currency markets move continuously during weekday trading hours, so the displayed rate reflects the most recent daily close. For large or time-sensitive financial transactions, always confirm the exact rate with your bank or payment provider at the moment of transfer.
Why is the rate here different from my bank’s rate?
Banks, travel money providers, and currency exchange kiosks earn revenue by offering rates worse than the mid-market rate. This difference — known as the spread or markup — can range from 1–3% at online transfer services to 8–15% or more at airport kiosks. The rate shown here is the mid-market benchmark; your actual cost will depend on your provider’s markup plus any transaction fees they charge.
What does the conversion table show?
The conversion table below the chart automatically calculates 19 standard amounts — 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, 5,000, and 10,000 — in the currency pair you have selected. It updates in real time whenever you change either currency, making it ideal for travellers budgeting multiple spend amounts or businesses calculating invoices in foreign currencies.
What is the 35-currency rate board?
The rate board displays how 1 unit of your chosen “From” currency compares against 35 of the world’s most actively traded currencies simultaneously. It is designed to give you a fast global overview — useful for investors monitoring multiple markets, importers/exporters comparing costs across regions, or anyone wanting to see the relative strength of a currency at a glance.
Which currencies are supported?
The converter supports 150+ currencies including all G10 and G20 currencies, major Gulf currencies (AED, SAR, QAR, KWD), African currencies (ZAR, NGN, EGP, KES, GHS), Asian currencies (CNY, INR, JPY, KRW, THB, MYR, IDR, PHP), Latin American currencies (BRL, MXN, ARS, CLP, COP), and many more emerging market and exotic currencies.
Is this converter free? Does it require registration?
Yes, completely free. No account, no registration, no subscription required. CalculatorNexa is supported by advertising, which allows all tools to remain free for all users on all devices — mobile, tablet, and desktop.
